Austin Fashion Week Drag Show Collection
Project type
Runway Show
Date
May 2025
Location
Austin, Texas
This drag collection exists at the intersection of fashion, performance, and protest. Each look is designed to be embodied rather than simply worn—garments function as armor, storytelling devices, and declarations of survival in a political and cultural climate that continues to police queer and trans bodies.
Constructed from upcycled materials and sculptural silhouettes, the collection embraces exaggeration as power and visibility as resistance. Traditional gender markers are distorted and reclaimed; corsetry becomes confrontation, tailoring becomes defiance, and embellishment becomes a language of refusal.
The runway is treated as a stage for transformation and voice, where movement, makeup, and styling are integral to the work. Centering trans and gender-nonconforming experiences, the collection highlights resilience, rage, humor, and joy as equally radical forces—asserting drag not as decoration, but as necessary, political expression.
